Burwood North Ryde           6

Cabramatta made it two from two with a hard fought win over Burwood North Ryde in an error filled match.

Both teams were greeted with a heavy track due to massive amounts of precipitation in the lead up to the match. Both teams were guilty of spilling the steeden in good attacking positions. Burwood squandered to much possession to win the match which frustrated coach Aaron Zammit. Cabramatta were the better of the sides but had their issues with ball control throughout the match

After a dour opening to the match, which was marred by some very poor ball control, Burwood North Ryde landed the first blow on the scoreboard. Some good second phase play for the visitors resulted in Matt Evans streaking away to opening the scoring. Evans showed a good turn of pace out sprinting the fullback to score. Aldridge raised the flags giving his side a 6-0 lead. The introduction of massive prop Tifa Iuta proved a master stroke from coach Jason Williams with the man mountain touching down with his first carry of the ball. Iuta showed great strength to score next to the sticks. Iuta nearly had his 2nd with Cabramatta’s next use of the ball but somehow Burwood managed to hold him up over the try line. Cabramatta found the front three minutes prior to the games break with Pierce Sapsford running off a nice Saxon Fischer-Gray ball to score. The try came on the back of some very simple errors from the United side.

Ten minutes after the break Burwood were finally starting to mount some pressure on the Two Blues defence. With Burwood deep on the attack David Farkas latched onto an intercept which saw the half back race 80 metres untouched to extend Cabramatta’s lead to 14-6. Six minutes later Samiu Latu was sent to the sin bin when frustrations boiled over after another Burwood drop ball. The game was put out of reach for the visitors when Henry Taufaao powered his way across the line. The abundance of possession for the home side finally reaped some dividends. Cabramatta sunk the boot in with one last four pointer to Iuta. Iuta capped off his 10 out of 10 performance with another dominate run to the try line. Hala Katoa raised the flags for the third time in the match taking the final score to 26-6.
