Cabramatta and Burwood fought out a 21 all draw in an error riddled Sydney Shield match at New Era Stadium.

Cabramatta enjoyed the flow of possession early on which made the going tough for the visiting Burwood North Ryde side. Both sides were guilty of squandering the football but it was Cabramatta who had the abundance of possession to open the match. Burwood took full advantage of their time with the ball in hand which saw Joe Kavoa opening the scoring after 16 minutes of play. Kavoa showed great strength planting the ball down wide out. Burwood’s lead was extended to ten with Allam Elasmar powering his way across the stipe. Elasmar showed great power carrying numerous defenders across the line with him. Cabramatta finally produced some points courtesy of a great run from Veasii Kavaefiafi. Kavaefiafi exposed some fragile fringe defence to streak down field. From the ensuing play Kruse Robinson barged his way across to score. In the background Kavaefiafi was helped from the field with what looked to be a serious ankle injury. Burwood took all the momentum into the sheds when Josh Cosgrove was on the spot to collect a spilt bomb from Cabramatta. Jarrod Nyssen pushed his conversion attempt wide leaving the half time score at 14-6

Cabramatta made the perfect start to the 2nd stanza when a Taylor Bennett bomb was left to bounce which saw Jamie Blewitt plant the ball over the line for the home side. Nine minutes later the scores were locked at 14 a piece after another spill at the back for Burwood. From the ensuing set Adrian Ha’angana showed to much strength to score in the corner. Burwood clawed their way back to the lead with a swooping backline move ending in a four pointer to Jayden Auston. Auston was fouled while scoring the try so a possible eight point try was awarded. Shae Jarvis pushed the conversion attempt wide but slotted the penalty kick from in front to give his side a converted try lead. Burwood were their own worst enemy with some poor turn overs nullifying any attacking raids they could mount. Cabramatta made them pay with Tupou Penatani barging his way across from close range. The Blewitt conversion levelled the match up once again. Cabramatta hit the lead for the 1st time in the match courtesy of a field goal from Bennett. Burwood salvaged a point from the match with Nyssen sending over a field goal with 26 seconds left of the clock.
