Cabramatta atoned for last weekends’ loss to Windsor with a crushing
defeat of the Guildford Owls at McCredie Park.
Cabramatta were boosted by the late inclusions
of NSW Cup veterans Ray Moujalli and Andrew Pearn. They also had Jordan
Galloway and exciting prospect Jake Watts from Newtown. Guilford landed the
first blow of the match but it was all the Two Blues after that. Cabramatta turned
in a stunning display of attacking football which Guildford had no answer to.
Cabramatta enjoyed the early going with
numerous sets on the Owls line. Guildford made the most of their first use with
the steeden in an attacking position with Harmony Hunt finishing a good Suliasi
Suli run. Cabramatta took the lead six minutes later after a long run from
Watts set up good field position for the visitors. From the next play quick
hands sent Pierce Sapsford though a huge hole to register first points for
Cabramatta. It looked like Sapsford had a double eleven minutes later but the
final pass from Bobbie Goulding was ruled forward. The match was going end to
end with both sides producing brick wall defence. Something had to give and it
was a pin point accurate kick which Guildford spilt over the sideline that gave
the Two Blues the ascendancy. Two sets later a Watts crossfield kick was
collected by Adam Hanson who received a room service bounce to score wide out.
Cabramatta took all the momentum into the break after a swooping backline move
was finished by Brett Manning. The play was possible due to a massive charge
from Eni Folau from the kick off which looked like a bowling ball knocking the
pins everywhere.
Cabramatta went further ahead after Billy
Butler was sin binned for a professional foul. Watts took the quick tap
catching the Guildford defence asleep to score wide out. Three minutes later a
good run from the kick off set up great field position for the visitors. By the
end of the set they had crossed for their 5th try of the match with
Hanson going on a good angled run to the line. Guildford breathed a little bit
of life back into the match with Lachlan Roe bagging a well deserved try.
Cabramatta put the result beyond doubt five minutes later with Mitchell Simpson
powering his way across the line to score. Cabramatta rounded out the scoring
for the match with Manning the benefactor of a good scrum base move.
Cabramatta’s win is their third for the season while Guildford’s loss is
disappointing after a massive win against The Entrance the week before.
