Wentworthville Magpies produced a 42-0 second half to win the battle of the birds at Ringrose Park

A tight first half left the match evenly poised at the games break. Asquith held an 18-16 lead but Wentworthville produced a 2nd half that will send shivers through the rest of the competition absolutely dominating their opponents.

Asquith were first to trouble the scorers with Luke McDonald crossing after six minutes of play. McDonald was the recipient of a nice short ball from Desai Gupwell which sent the lock over to score next to the sticks. Eight minutes later a nice short ball from Joe Napoletano sent Takai Moeakiola on a saloon passage to the try line. Rain then began to fall which provided a lot of poor ball control which saw Napoletano break from the scrum to score a simple four pointer. Asquith then capitalized on a Wentworthville error with McDonald grabbing his 2nd try of the match. Asquith then jumped eight clear when the ball was kept alive resulting in a four pointer to Blake Nicholls. Wentworthville rounded out the first half with a superb try to Danny Barakat. Barakat showed great skills taking a Matt Mulcahy kick on the fingertips to score in the corner. James Boustani raised the flags from the side line taking the score to 18-16 at the break.

What ever Wentworthville coach Dave Nugent said at the break obviously sunk in as Wentworthville scored after just two minutes of the 2nd half. Chris Chalmers showed to much strength hitting the line at pace to score. Wentworthville went further ahead seven minutes later with Elias Sukkar running off a nice Boustani short ball to score. Sukkar had his 2nd three minutes later with the prop showing to much power carrying defenders over the line to score, although it looked like he had spilled the ball in the process of scoring. Wentworthville were relentless knocking up three tries in the space of eight minutes. The first came courtesy of a good dart from dummy half by Tiger Vatuvei. The hooker showed good vision catching the markers off guard to score. Boustani then laid on a superb cross field kick which was well taken by Ben Fritz who scored wide out. Fritz had his 2nd not long after finishing some quick hands along the back line taking the score past 50. Fritz finished the match with a hat-trick of four pointers courtesy of another cross field kick from Boustani. Boustani raised the flags for the 9th time in the match taking the final score to 58-18.
