Thursday night football made a stunning return to the foot of the mountains with Windsor christening their newly built grandstand with a comprehensive 46-12 victory over Burwood North Ryde.

The loss sinks Burwood North Ryde to their 5th consecutive defeat leaving them the only team without a win this season. Coaches Aaron Zammit and Andrew Emelio must be left scratching their heads week after week considering the calibre of players they have at their disposal. As for Windsor they turned in a well oiled first forty minutes extinguishing any chance Burwood North Ryde had skipping out to a 28-0 half time lead.

Burwood North Ryde enjoyed the early field position landing numerous unsuccessful raids on the Wolves line. Windsor made the first visit to the tryline disturbing United’s nest at the 11 minute mark. Good quick hands resulted in Chris Aunese-Scanlan crossing wide out. On the back of a penalty the Wolves sent the ball the opposite way which saw Nayah Freeman slide across wide out. The Wolves were howling when 37 year old veteran Hutch Maiava powered his way across next to the sticks. Two tries before the break sent the Wolves to the sheds with a commanding 28-0 lead. Eli Makaui showed great skills laying on a nice pass before wrapping around to collect the final ball to score next to the posts. Thirty seconds before the break a Wolves grubber looked like it was in a pin ball machine before the ball was swooped on by Tom Eisenhuth for the try. Iain Riccardi raised the flags for the fourth time in the match leaving his side with a commanding lead at the games break.

Burwood North Ryde made the perfect start to the half with Mitch Henderson collecting a Jackson Garlick grubber kick. The joy for the visitors was short lived with Windsor crossing seven minutes later. The try was highlighted by some very good hands which was finished by Freeman in the corner. The game was brought to a halt in the 58th minute with Tarek El Masri stretchered from the field with what looked to be a serious sternum injury. This didn’t stop Windsor with the Wolves crossing through Mitch Clark. The Wolves went 40 points clear after a Mitch Boss grubber was collected by Liam Ayoub. The play was well worked with no one near Ayoub as he touched down under the sticks. Daniel Cooper converted both of the four pointers. Taking the score to 46-6. The match then turned into a comedy of errors with countless scrums being packed in the final 10 minutes of play. Burwood North Ryde finished the match on a high with Sione Kite showing to much strength close to the line.
